MEET MEGAN

Collaborative Leader for Reading, MA Schools

Megan Fidler-Carey is an educator, parent, and community volunteer seeking your vote for Reading School Committee.   Megan has a Master’s in Education from UMass Boston and currently works as the Head of Before and After School programs in Medford.  Along with her husband, Charlie, Megan enjoys the sense of community and opportunities for volunteerism in Reading.  Her daughter, Marlie, is a seventh grader at Parker Middle School. Megan has served as a Town Meeting member since 2017 and on the board of Reading Education Foundation since 2018.

As an educator, Megan has fervently advocated for equity and opportunity for students in public schools for nearly two decades, focusing on community partnerships as a driver for positive change. Megan’s international travels and career explorations have provided her with varied cultural perspectives for approaching work. Having spent time as a District Director for Partnerships and Out of School Time, and before that a High School Director of Partnerships for Students, Megan is exceptionally proficient at collaboration-building and forming partnerships.  Megan has used  her expertise in partnerships with non-profit, wellness, and business organizations to compliment the academic experiences of students in the districts where she serves.

 

Megan will bring to the School Committee excellent professionalism, a sense of humor, and a systems-level approach to problem solving. She is passionate about contributing to the positive academic achievement and empowerment of public school students in Reading, MA.
